Day 55 - Save the Drama...
Was going to blog about the Drama in our PR, but it's probably best I don't get too far into it. I will say this - I really, really don't like how the disposables thread turned into jokes about CD'ing being like re-using sanitary napkins and comments about it being "gross." At the same time it seems those who use disposables felt judged by those who CD. Personally, I don't judge what anyone else does - I do what I do because for us it works. To each his or her own. Drama is for middle-school. If someone says something offensive that seems to be directed at a specific individual, it should be addressed with that person. And sometimes I think too many assumptions are made. I still remember what my mom taught me about the word ASSUME at a very young age.
Nico and I had a fun day today, and tomorrow we go to see Ashley. Yay!

Day 52 - No Sun in Sunday
Another rainy day, another trip to the zoo canceled. Nico is teething in full force now, I still don't see anything breaking through.
Here are some pics of Nico in one of his new BumGenius AIO OS organics. The froggie blanket was a gift from his Godfather's family. We met Michael's mom for the first time when she came to Brianna's baby shower yesterday. His sisters came out too. It was so thoughtful of them to bring Nico a gift.
Dragonfly tastes yummy...

He's actually chewing on the teether portion of the toy, a first...

New froggy blanket...

This tastes good too!

Day 51 - Meh...
Rainy day here in Scottsdale. We went to my SIL's baby shower - it was supposed to be on the outdoor patio of a restaurant but we wound up having it inside instead. I posted something in the Private Pod - sometimes people say really stupid stuff and it should not bother me but it does. To make a long story short, when we were at the shower Nico was sleeping and he startled and woke up crying. Someone thought they were being funny and said to me, "What did you do to him?" and someone else joked, "She pinched him, I saw her." REALLY? Sorry if I don't find that funny. He stopped crying the second I picked him up. Nico doesn't cry very often and if he does he is easily soothed with either BF'ing, or cuddling. I don't think it's funny to joke that I made him cry. Probably over-reacting but it ticked me off.
Other than that the shower was nice, my SIL got pretty much everything she will need when Arianna is born. Her fiance's mother and sisters flew in for the shower, and they brought each of us a little something from TX. They got Nico the cutest froggie blanket - I have tons of pics from today but will take a froggie pic tomorrow. It was very sweet of them to think of him

Day 50 - Drooooooolllll
Poor little man - the drooling is reaching epic proportions and I think his first tooth or teeth are not far behind. I don't see anything above the gums yet, but I expect to any day now.

Day 48 - Hump Day
Still no charger....grrr. Nico and I are going to my in-laws again to watch AI, so I'll get some pics with my MIL's camera.
Also been watching the Olympics - WTG Lindsey Vonn!
Update - borrowed my MIL's camera while we were over there...here is one of the many pics we took of Nico playing on his tummy time mat while we watched AI. He can now roll both ways - back to front and front to back! Woot!
Happy boy...

Day 47 - So Tired
We've been busy with house stuff, plus today I visited my old workplace and had lunch with my Bestie. I cannot find my camera charger - been getting things ready to pack and put it somewhere...so today I took yet another cell-phone photo. Need to e-mail it to myself to post, but I am exhausted. At least I'm taking them everyday, but I need to find my darn charger 'cause the cell photos just aren't that great.

Day 43 - Let the Games Begin!
Just watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics. I love watching the Winter Games, but usually I didn't have a chance to with working full-time and going to school at night for so many years. Now that I'm home with Nico maybe I will see more of them.
Nico has recently become extremely interested in his feet. I keep meaning to get pics, so tonight after I put him in his pj's, I laid him on the bed. Sure enough, the first thing he did was go for his feet.
Warming up for the Olympics...gotta stay flexible!

Curling up like a little hedgehog...

Hmmm..I wonder what these taste like?

Now I am going to watch the Baby Einstein DVD with Nico again :) Good night!

Day 42 - Winter or Spring?
We had a few weeks of unseasonably warm weather, now it's been cooler than normal the past few days. Here is a photo of Nico & me in our beanies. He kept looking away from the camera just as my friend took the pic.

I ordered an Ergo today. I have a Baby Bjorn Air, but I can't figure the thing out and it seems like a pain to use. I tried the Ergo on at a local store, but I actually ordered it online because the price was $40 cheaper plus free shipping and no tax. I feel bad that I didn't order it from the local place, but $40 is a big difference. Can't wait to get it, hopefully it will be here soon.

Day 41 - Hump Day
Spent the day over at the potential new house getting bids for work we'll need to have done. Went to lunch with my MIL and then dinner with my in-laws too. Just got back from watching American Idol at their house.
Nail-biting decisions!

I love this outfit on him - it gets worn/washed at least once a week :-)

Day 40 - Happy 5 months!
Nico is five-months old today!
So I've been putting off fixing my blog, but finally got a chance to update the missing pages this morning. I took out the background last week and that seems to have helped. Plus as I go in and edit I realize some of them say "Edit" on the list but not "View," so I didn't publish the pages or something happened and it didn't update. Grrrr. I am pretty good on the computer, even worked in the technology field for awhile, but as much as I want Nico's blog to look fancy, I am not having luck with templates yet. Maybe I should stick to manual scrap-booking, not digital.
So what is it about certain toys that make them different? Nico loves Sophie so much, and he also loves his glowing seahorse. See below :-)
Ode to my seahorse...

Oh seahorse, how I love you...

I can tell you all my secrets...

The way you glow is so appealing...

I could gaze at you all day and night...

Day 39 - Hips Don't Lie
OK, corny title for today's post. But Nico had his hip ultrasound this morning, so I figured...why not? Hehe. Because Nico was breech, I had heard he should have a hip x-ray or ultrasound. I asked the first pediatrician we went to about it and she brushed me off. Last week we switched pedi's and I asked him. He said yes, they normally do an ultrasound at one month! Grrrr. So he scheduled Nico right away, even though he said it all felt normal. We went in for the ultrasound today and the doc at the hospital said yes, perfect hips! Woohoo! Shakira has met her match! HAHAHA!
In His Dinosaur PJ's Watching The Bachelor with Mommy...

Day 38 - Superbowl Sunday!
So in our house things are a little backwards. I'm a huge sports fan...DH, not so much. We went to my SIL's to watch the game. Nico had a great time with the family. Here are a few highlight pics, the rest are on Facebook :-)
Watching the game...
the door was open because we were grilling carne asada, so Nico had his hat on.

Sitting with Nana...

Nico loves flying...

...and walking with Daddy

Back at home after the party...

The game was exciting - I am happy the Saints won if only because my best friend's husband is from New Orleans, and they're in Vegas watching the game. I know if the Saints lost, her trip would not be a pleasant one, so for her sake, I'm glad :-)
I love family dinners with my in-laws. My sister-in-law is due in April - a girl!! - so Nico will have a cousin very soon!

Day 36 - FLUFF!
Last cycle of wash, ready to go in the dryer...fluff photo coming shortly! Woot!
---------------------
As they say on Spongebob in a fancy French accent...
three hours later
(we fell asleep watching a movie :-)
So here is his first fluff - BumGenius AIO organic. Not sure how this is supposed to last until he is 35 lbs, doesn't seem like it will but maybe I'm doing something wrong? Hmmm. Nonetheless, it's very cute!

Day 35 - On the Go Again...
So glad we have nothing on the agenda again tomorrow, because once again it's been a week on the go. Met a former co-worker for lunch, then Ashley for coffee. Nico has found his voice. He's been babbling for weeks but today he was trying out for American Idol. He hits notes that I think only dogs can hear and quite possibly could break glass. He's not crying or fussing, he just gets a kick out of making super high pitched squeals.
Today is the first day he wore his new shades. For those who don't live in Arizona - sunglasses are a MUST here. It is often so bright you can hardly see without them. I got him a pair at Carter's, and they are super cute.
This pic is with my cell phone, I'll get some better ones with my camera soon.

Tomorrow we have NO plans. Thank goodness. It is fun to be out and about but then I feel like we're not getting anything done at home and as he gets older I'm noticing he doesn't sleep as much on the go. He is much more interested now in what goes on around him. I think soon we'll restrict our outings around his nap time, so he doesn't miss out on getting rest.

Day 34 - Looooong but fun Day
Today we went to lunch with Nana Jodie and then to the Carter's store. Yay!
After dinner we went to Nana Jodie's house to watch American Idol.
Nico fell asleep...

So tired...he kept rubbing his eyes and he was ready to go home...

Don't forget Sophie!

Happy to be home!

And talking up a storm...who was tired?

Mama is tired...goodnight!

Day 33 - 4 month appt and rice cereal
Nico had his 4-month appt. today. It was a few weeks late because when I quit my job to be a SAHM we had to find new insurance for him rather than use COBRA. I am still on COBRA so we get the maternity coverage, but DH and Nico went on their own plan. Everything went well, and I really like our new pediatrician. He was much nicer than the one we went to before. Nico is 15 lbs. 5 oz and 24.5 inches. Developmentally the doc said he's right where he should be if not a little advanced. Two vaccine pokes today - he didn't cry after the first, but the second must have hurt because he screamed :( Lots of kisses and cuddles and he was fine.
I had planned to wait until 6 months to start the rice cereal, but Nico has been waking up earlier than usual to eat, and he's very interested in our food. I bought some O Organics brown rice cereal and we tried it this afternoon. This is how it went:
He made this face after each spoonful.

He did like his Sophie the Giraffe spoon...

He grabbed for it to guide it to his mouth...

... but most of it then wound up all over

After each spoonful he brought the bib to his mouth, lol - he cleaned himself up...

I also started investigating cloth diapers today. All of you are very into fluff and it's made me curious. We have a place here that sells them called Wildflower Diapers, and they are scheduled to get more of the organic BumGenius in next week. What other kinds are good and why do you like one vs. another?
Meeting DH for Mexican food soon, so until tomorrow...
