Day 31 - Church and Dinner With Friends

Now it looks like our house deal may go through after all. When our real estate agent threatened to shut down the deal, the other side finally started responding. Until it's closed I'm not counting on it. We went out and looked at other houses, but nothing really compares to the one we're trying for. It is an older house, but it's in a neighborhood of custom homes and it has good "bones."

Later in the day I met one of my best friends and his fiance at church. I have not gone to church in awhile, but I really liked the Catholic church they go to. I have tried non-denominational and all different types of Christian churches and none have felt like home. But I really want to go with Nico (DH won't go), so maybe this will be the one we join. Afterwards DH met us all at Chili's and we got some cute pics of Nico standing (with help of course!). We went to the teen mass, so he was dressed kind of casual but I did get him a collared shirt <3

Day 30 - Where has the month gone?

January has flown by and Nico is almost 5 months old. Bittersweet.

I've been looking for new sleepers for him, and they don't make the ones I like in bigger sizes. He still fits in them, but soon we'll need to find something else.

Day 29 - TGIF

Today we met one of my former co-workers for lunch at PF Changs. She had her second son about two and a half months ago, so he is not much younger than Nico. She is going back to work next week, and is struggling with the same decision I had to make.

Day 28 - Qué Sera Sera

Today was inspection day for the home we've been looking at. Basically our worst fears were confirmed. While the "bones" of the house are good, it is going to need alot of work. New roof, two new AC units (both units are bad), large tree in front is dead and needs to come out - plus it lifted the sidewalk up; new flooring, paint, water damage from leaky roof, and that just scratches the surface.

I think at this point we've decided to keep looking and wait to see if this house comes back on the market once it's foreclosed on. Right now it's a short sale and getting the seller to do anything is impossible. So, back to house hunting...

Day 24 - Another Day - Just Me & Nico

DH had to work again today, so once again it's me and Nico. Mostly a restful day - cleaned the oven and did laundry but other than that we've been watching football. Right now we're watching the Saints and Vikings - exciting game!

Another rainy day here in AZ. We've gotten more rain this month than we usually get in half a year. We spent the day cuddling and watching a movie.

Nico also played in his jumperoo -

but he still wore himself out...

Day 18 - Rainy Day

Day 17 - Sunday Sunday

Another fun day planned, another cancellation. We were supposed to go to the zoo today with another couple and their 1 year old daughter. Unfortunately, the little one has a cold, and we all thought it better to postpone our outing. So many people around us are sick, I think it's inevitable that Nico or I catch it at some point. :(

Little guy and I watched football and DH played video games. Got stuff done around the house and made Swedish meatballs and spaetzle for dinner. Yum!

Day 16 - Just another Saturday

Day 15 - Another week flies by...

Can't believe it's Friday already. My friend had to cancel our lunch plans today because she is sick, so we rescheduled to next Friday. It's just as well, I haven't gotten anything done around the house this week.

Nico took a short nap in his crib today. He likes the mobile...but not when it shuts off. It winds up and will only last a little while, I think we need a battery-operated one.

Hello fuzzy flying froggy...

Day 13 - Kinda dreading tomorrow...

Tomorrow night is the big game...well, ok, not really a big game since they're not even in the same conference...but it's the first time the NJ Devils have come to play the Coyotes in a few years. We have sweet seats - 5th row, next to the Devils' bench. I have been Devils' fan since they moved to NJ in '82/'83 and lived 10 minutes from their old arena when I was growing up. My uncle had season tickets so I went to many games up until I moved to AZ when I was 20. For several years after I moved here, AZ didn't even have an NHL team. Occasionally there would be exhibition games and we had non-pro leagues (the Roadrunners), but I missed my Devils :)

So why aren't I more excited? Well, it is our first "night out" without Nico. He will be with my MIL so he'll be fine, but I don't want to leave him. I already have a queasy stomach just thinking about it. I hope I can relax and have fun. We are going with DH's youngest sister and her boyfriend.

Today I tried putting Nico in his crib again for a nap. He did ok for a little while. He enjoyed looking at the mobile his Nana got him.

Day 12 - Busy Week...

Almost missed the deadline today...just before midnight here. Well, I took my photos several hours ago but want to try to post them on the right day.

Nana Jodie was off work today so we had lunch with her and Auntie Brianna. Then we went back over to Nana Jodie's tonight to watch American Idol. Nico had fun playing with Nana and with Auntie Danielle's Puggle puppy, Bella. Bella is almost the same age as Nico, hehe.

The rest of our week will be super busy...java with a friend tomorrow morning (at the famous Orange Table of course!), hockey game Thursday (Nico stays with Nana - I am already missing him!), and lunch with a friend who just had a baby in November on Friday. Sunday we're going to the zoo with another couple and their 1 year old daughter.

Day 11 - All of a Sudden I Like Mondays...

Monday used to be the dreaded return to work day. This morning I woke up and it hit me...Mondays are great now, a fresh start to the week and although it's nice to have DH home on weekends, there is something to be said for having the house to ourselves (Nico & me). I get way more done around the house. Tonight I tried a new recipe from a cookbook I got for Christmas.

Nico is so expressive. It's so hard to catch it in the photos but I love his little personality. Today online at the grocery store he was giving the man behind us the biggest smiles. He usually turns on the charm for women, especially when they start talking to him, but today he won over a guy that I don't think normally pays attention to babies. I can't wait to get to know him more as he grows. <3

Day 10 - The End of Another Week

Day 9 - Can't believe he is 4 months old today!

I know everyone told me how fast the time goes and to enjoy every second, but wow...my little guy is four months old today.

This one would have been so much better if it wasn't blurry...one of these days I'll have a shiny new camera but for now making do with the old one...



Got a few chores done but most of the day we just snuggled and played. Can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday.

Day 8 - TGIF

So today we had nowhere to go and both Nico and I stayed in our PJ's (well, I threw some VS sweats on because Fed Ex was coming and I don't like answering the door in PJ's, hehe). Fed Ex delivered my tickets to the hockey game next Thursday. So excited to finally see my Devils play. They only come to AZ to play the Coyotes every few years. Too many expansion teams now and they are in different conferences. My MIL is going to watch Nico. I don't want to bring him to a cold arena and we are sitting really close so there is always a chance the puck will come into the stands.

Bad thing about today is I had a stupid headache, and stubborn as usual I tried not to take anything for it. But by the afternoon I was nauseous and my head hurt really bad, so I broke down and took Excedrine Migraine. It always does the trick...I just hate taking medicine of any kind unless I really need to.

It's almost as though Nico knew I did not feel well. I took a hot bath and he was in his bouncy seat. I looked at him and he was just so focused on me, then he gave me a tiny little crooked smile and it just melted my heart.

Day 7 - Where does the week go?

Saw Ashley again today (yay) and we went for coffee at Orange Table. The soup of the day was Carrot Ginger - omg it was sooo good!

Tonight Nico sat for awhile in the Bumbo. He kind of likes it but it seems he is almost too big for it already!





So excited - his Sophie the Giraffe teether came today, and so did his sea turtle night light. I'll try to get some pics of those tomorrow.

Day 6 - Fun Day!

Today we went to see my friend Ashley and we went to lunch at Nello's pizza in Scottsdale. It was so good to see her. Very weird to visit my old workplace though - in a good way.

When we got home, he was so sleepy he crashed out on the bed before I could take off his jacket...he was crying and I put his seahorse next to him and then Zzzzz.zzzz.zzzz

Day 4 - Teething!

Pics from tonight...nothing fancy, but I do think he might be getting a tooth soon. I was reading on the bed and he was napping next to me, these were taken when he woke up.
